It’s Dolomiti time…

Packed for the Dolomiti
Packed for the Dolomiti

Climbing and hiking in the Dolomites during July and August has become a summer holiday ritual for me. For the past 17 years, I’ve spent every July/August bar 2016 amongst the massifs that make up the Dolomiti. To me, it has become ‘Dolomiti time’. Over the years I’ve had the company of some of the best people I know. André and Adrian perhaps the most regular companions, Frank and Anke, Steve, Antonella, Daniélle, Richard and Thea, Zelda, Andy, and Barbara and Noah.

This year Barbara and I are on our own. With plans only for the first few days and from there we’ll have to see which way the wind blows…

Packed and ready for an early start, we set off shortly after 7… driving from Zürich via Liechtenstein, then via Innsbruck in Austria, then turning south to Cortina D’Ampezzo – the charming town, surrounded by some of the most dramatic Dolomiti peaks – arriving just in time for aperitifs…
